Reasons for adding antioxidants and anti-oxidants

Engines that use fuel oil, kerosene, gasoline, natural gas or man-made gases, liquefied gas, etc., must use lubricants (such as paraffin-based lubricants) to lubricate their moving parts. Lubricating oil in use to contact with the air, a variety of mechanical equipment will also produce heat, so that the temperature of the friction parts in operation, in addition, a variety of metal materials in the equipment, such as copper, iron, etc., will play a catalytic role in accelerating the oxidation and deterioration of oil, and ultimately the viscosity of lubricating oil increases, generating acidic substances to corrode metal materials. Various carbon or bituminous precipitated substances such as paint film will also be generated to block the pipeline. All these changes will adversely affect the continued use of oil products and the normal operation of equipment. Therefore, oil products are required to have better antioxidant and antiseptic properties. Antioxidant and anti-corrosion additives are added to the oil, the purpose of which is to inhibit the oxidation of the oil, blunt the catalytic effect of the metal on the oxidation, and prolong the use of the oil and protect the machine.
After a certain refined base oil, it has a certain antioxidant effect, but it can not meet the extremely harsh requirements of modern use, and it must be added to the antioxidant and anticorrosive additives. The additive amount is the third after the detergent dispersant and the viscosity index improver.
